History of DLS (2)
« on: July 14, 2007, 03:23:58 AM »
Ok, I'm making a new thread to this. Actually, look what I've found: http://www.lucasforums.com/archive/index.php/t-126216.html

The History of -|DLS|-
By ZeeMan - 2004

The Beginning

The grouping of this wonderful clan dates back all the way to the days of Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. It was for this game that Scan was one of the more important members of the clan <{SLK}> or more appropriately named Sith Lord Knights. Quite obviously <{SLK}> was formed on the basis of dark force powers, and it is with this clan that Scan was instilled his dark roots.

The game of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was released and <{SLK}> was formed in the midst of the multiplayer expansion. Rumor has it that <{SLK}> was one of the premier clans filled with skill and a fearless leader by the name of Nobody. Unfortunately, Nobody was forced to take an extended leave of absence for approximately nine to eleven months. His replacement as Emperor was Empress Saber Girl, who decided to run the clan with the utmost totalitarian spirit. This caused a severe rift among several of the members.

A group of <{SLK}> decided to form a new clan with some other acquaintances known in the Jedi Academy community. Vipers, Scan, Dodgers, and Sparky turned their loyalties on <{SLK}> and with the likes of Ullette, Vegeta, and Woody. The original rules were written by Viper and Scan. This was formation of the illustrious -|DLS|- also known as Dark Lords of the Sith.

Ullette and Vegeta slowly dropped out of the game, so Xanatos and Saze were promoted to replace them. Due to inactivity, Dodgers was demoted temporarily but still ran most of the duties concerning the website. Viper was promoted up to the rank of Clan Leader. A relatively new member, Cloud, was promoted to Clan Leader to replace Woody who was dropping out of the game. Saze was demoted as well for inactivity and Fero was promoted to replace him. By the end of all of this, the leadership position looked like this: Scan, Xanatos, Fero, Dodgers, Sparky, Cloud and Viper.

Within the first week of DLS, it was clear that they needed to start with some member recruiting. Scan and others went to servers, to try to find players with dedication and talent. One day as Scan was in a duel server, he met this player with the name of "I OWN U" (BounceBro). Intrigued with his newbie single skill, he invited him into the server, and was recruited by himself and Xanatos, as well as Cloud. Little did they know that he would be very important in the comming months.

For several months -|DLS|- grew and grew, becoming ever so popular in the Jedi Academy community known for the skill of it?s members but also for the relations they managed to hold with other clans in the community. Only <{SLK}> was a real enemy, not quite forgiving the treacherous group. Now, this anger has subsided and no real bad blood exists between the two clans anymore.

The first real hardship was encountered by -|DLS|- in October of 2003. All of the game servers went down and no website was available. Total demise was on the horizon, and thankfully Scan was able to get a game server and Dodgers purchased a website that was kept in use until the end of 2006. This would be considered one of the lowest periods that the clan has been through.

Good ol? times ? The first golden age

Late in the year 2003, -|DLS|- was the most popular clan and the most revered. At any given point in time there were ten players asking for the {CL}?s or Clan Leaders to sponsor them for joining the clan. Sponsorships were hard to come by. A relatively new player to the online community named ZeeMan was finally accepted into the clan after receiving sponsorships from Cloud, Scan, and Dodgers. No one knew exactly how important this player was to the survival of the clan.

Just before the turn of the year, -|DLS|- encountered it?s second real hardships. Xanatos was removed from clan altogether for having his own thoughts about how the clan should be run. Artomas and 00kill left on their own will and formed the clan (|SK|) also known as the Sith Kings. Fero was honorably demoted to the rank of {CM} or Clan Master for being inactive as was Viper. Saze, another founding member, was promoted to take the place of Fero.

It was also at this time that a new member was accepted into the clan. A seasoned veteran who flied solo in Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, #include, formerly known as RPTHEHOTROD was promoted and immediately proved to be an asset unto the clan. His experience from serving a multi-game clan for six years was greatly appreciated and was constantly asked for advice. He helped maintain the website and server, and helped with file hosting. He was often in leader meetings without officially being one.

For his actions in forming clan meetings and getting everything resituated, ZeeMan was promoted to take the place of Xanatos after only one month in the clan. And BounceBro was promoted to take the place of Viper.

Midway through the month of January another sharp blow was dealt to the clan. Cloud left his {CL} position to join an old Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast friend by the name of Zurek in the -]AoG[- or Alliance of Guardians clan. Fero also joined Cloud in this new clan. #include was promoted to take the place of Cloud, and negotiations were started trying to get Cloud and Fero back into -|DLS|-.

Tearing apart

The changing point occurs when the council of -|DLS|- votes to change to a new clan and essentially start over as -]AoS[- which would serve as a sister clan to -]AoG[-. Unfortunately, Dodgers and Sparky did not share this view of the challenge as being worthwhile and decided to keep -|DLS|- afloat. To this day the clan is still active and very much a part of the Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy community.

-]AoS[- formed the Alliance of Sith and continued to hold onto it?s seven Lord seats that were filled by Scan, Saze, Cloud, Wolfwood, ZeeMan, #include, and BounceBro. For a brief period -]AoS[- and -]AoG[- worked together and utterly dominated the Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy community. Unfortunately, -]AoG[- became less and less active, coming close to the point of disbanding. From that point onward, -]AoS[- was to stand alone, allying themselves when needed but never needing support from another clan.

The latest chapter involves another total rebuilding of -]AoS[-. Suffering greatly from two inactive Lords, great measures were taken. Cloud and Saze were demoted and a five leader seat was established. Also to greater expand upon the horizons of the clan, -]AoS[- decided to become a universal clan, accepting both Light Force users and Dark Force users. A change in name was required so -]AoS[- became Agents of Sanity.

Presently, -]AoS[- has a High Council composed of BounceBro leading the division of Dark Force users, Wolfwood leading the division of Light Force users, ZeeMan, Scan, and #include handling exterior relations of the clan. Fortunately, when dividing the clan up it was found that nearly fifty-fifty of the members was divided into the appropriate clans. One thing is for certain and that is that -]AoS[- will continue to grow stronger as time goes on.

The darkest chapter of -]AoS[- came over it like a powerful rainstorm across the great plains. Several issues caused deep rifts to be caused among several members.  Inactivity became an ever-growing problem.  The council looked at the clan and unfortunately came to the decision.  ZeeMan often quotes this, but it is so true to this situation: Empires come and go like the sands of time. ZeeMan and Wolfwood joined to form a new clan. Scan was anxiously waiting his long vacation time.  The other council members did not have any sturdy plans at the moment.  Only time would tell if there would be more additions to this account.

By that time -|DLS|- was still growing and continuing to excel. Lord Exar had accepted the main leadership role and the clan is molding into his own dreams and aspirations.  Zulgaines and Fero joined him with this adventurous task, immediately giving the clan a much-needed boost. Dodgers came back from a short hiatus and continued his role as the father of the clan.  The clan known as -]AoS[- was reunited under the majority of clanmates who refused to let it die. Such reluctance to give up is admirable and much respect is due to them. After some stalling and reluctant efforts to get their new clan together, Wolfwood and ZeeMan decided to make a final push and breathe life into Loyalty Until Death, or ||LuD||. One thing is for certain. These three clans have never become enemies and will always consist of the best of friends.

As of the winter of 2004, essentially the game playing had stopped. Focusing on friendship and just having a good time in Ventrilo was the main point of everyone's day. Nothing really else mattered.  Through thick and thin, the group of friends had more or less remained constant.

A new start ? A second golden age

||LuD|| stayed alive for a while. With some new members, such as Eondiina, who soon became leader in the clan, it grew larger. Nontheless, after some month Loyalty Until Death turned into a graphic community, called swaos.net, which now has turned into Design Whoring. Swaos.net was host for a new formation of AoS, which revived some old times, but which sadly didn't last too long.

This is when DLS second ?Golden Age? starts. Having it survived after an enormous amount of time and against all odds, DLS starts to receive a lot of old and new members back. The clan grew larger and powerful. Old members like Viper, Exar, Dodgers, Wolfwood and Zeeman were among the highest ranks. Some not as old, but not yet new members had a great importance: Devnull, Spyder, Eondiina, Gunner, Grim, Kakashi, Calibur, among others. Other historical members appeared on stage, for example Scan or Cloud.

These golden times lasted for about 8 month. A five leader?s board was established. But things started to perish with some corruption and the inactivity of most of the high ranked members. Strange arrangements where made between old members and the leaders, and poorly understood promotions took place. This was only the introduction for the great crisis that would come afterwards. By the second half of 2005 the great falling commenced. Many members were ranking up to take the position of some inactive leaders. Examples of this was Eondiina, JediGrieco (now SithGrieco) and Spyder. At first, after a brief period of inactivity, the relatively new leader Spyder had been repeatedly accused of admin abused on the server. This was surprising as he had risen to power in good terms. The highest point of this situation appeared during a forum discussion in which Spyder offended member June?s skills. The discussion grew greater, having members taking sides and taking advantage of the situation to request action against the admin abuse stated before. This set up the staging area to what happened afterwards.

The dark side strikes back ? a new division

Spyder and June conflict was not yet solved when the new problem arose. From the highest spheres only Viper seemed to be active. Below him there were still some other lower positioned leaders, such as JediGrieco, June, Devnull and Spyder. A general feeling of required changed appeared and Viper was the one to respond. Sadly, his radical changes in the clan started accusations of power abuse, as many of this decisions where taken without consulting the lower ranks and made quite a change. Another argument used against the leader was that he was server inactive, to what he stated he used to watch it through RCon. Back in those days not only forums where filled, but so was the server, with a great number of members that spent many hours there.

The clash between Viper and a great part of the clan went on for a few weeks. One of the most fighting members was Eondiina. The confrontation soon turned pretty much personal between them both. The final resolution, after various days of flaming from both sides, and the presence of a heavy hate cloud was the partition of DLS into a new clan: The fallen brethren or TFB. To this new partition left Wolfwood (soon afterwards Kyuubi), Eondiina (soon with the name of Sakura) and a great number of active DLS members as Medeki, Covenant, DocMars and Disciple.

There was tension between DLS and TFB for quite a while, hatred from both sides. TFB lasted for about a year, in which it grew intensively active. Unhappily, it then died after some unclear crises and transformations.

Start after the storm

DLS was wrecked. After the split up a lot of members continued to leave, many to TFB, many others simply left. Common was the case of those in search of new horizons, with large post saying goodbye.  The roster was less than half what it used to be, and the problem of leadership was not better, specially as Viper felt guilty and annoyed by the situation and decided to step away. Later on, forums and website disappeared. On the rush, Calibur provided us with a webpage hosted by him, and Reaper and Marchudichu set up a forum. The last members there were reached the server. It was time to rebuild things.

Things didn?t go as bad as it seemed. Many new members joined, such as Toff, ChunGae, Brandon and Killjoy. The leadership was mainly formed by Gunner, Reaper and Darth Vader. Marchudichu added up some time later. Soon the clan started to grew larger with old and new members that returned. Historical members made appearances, such as #Include, ZeeMan and Wolfwood. Viper also soon returned.

Conflicts within

This time, the growing got interrupted by internal conflicts between Spyder, Holifyre, Calibur and Gunner. At first, the problem initiated as an argument between Spyder and Calibur. The fight took over the forum and required to be solved in order to reestablish peace. It ended up with the parting of Calibur. Nontheless, Spyder bads reputation was not forgotten and soon proved again to be right.

Peace lasted a while longer, until a new fight started between Spyder and Gunner, when the first one was let into the higher ranks. Among with them, Holifyre had reached this place, and had once the chance to be an Emperor. Spyder and Gunners confrontation grew worst and worst. In the end, Spyder was banned from the forums, and Gunner had stepped down of the leadership. This is when two new leaders arise: Toff and Brandon. Peace is finally won after a large time of dilemma which marked a deep wound to the clan, which wasn?t strong enough to take the problems.

A new hope

Or wasn?t almost strong enough to take it, because it just didn?t stop DLS. In these times of quiet the clan continued to grow. Many old members came back, such as X, Viper, Vapors, Exar, Grim and Kakashi, among others. Some were more present that others, but they all made a great part. Devnull?s return after being offended for such a crisis as the TFB one made a flip. He helped us out and provided us with a new and fancy forum and website. From then on peace has been a constant. Holifyre had to be banned out of the forum as he helped Spyder out to proceed annoying the clan, as they were friends. Calibur was let back.

Now the clan seems to be in a static situation. Staying Toff and Brandon as a leaders, having Gunner back, with the addition of Grim, Dark Vader, Exar, Viper and others occupying different leadership positions things stay steady. New members come and go; some leaders leave, and then come back. Right now the clan is fighting against perishing and lying down. Latest changes have been the addition of Killjoy and Calibur to the Council, along to the already members Razor, Vapors and Marchudichu. Many changes may come, but something is certain, we are just not about to give up.

I know there are several mistakes and a lot of information has been obviated. Sadly, I only had my memory to do this, and it has been a while. You are free to point out mistakes.

Less detailed history, Because no one with writing skill and memory would do it:
Quote
Saber|Knight came back from his training and made DLS more active for a time, but caused many conflicts.

Killjoy left to find himself, and Arashi became Leader.

Grim left and Gray became Emperor in his place.

Arashi had to Ban SK for what he was doing to the clan, then dropped leader and became generally inactive wanting nothing more to do with leading.

Kchung become Host to our forum

Calibur become leader... Again. Now known as Emperor Havoc. <3

Forloc and Razor *CM's* were forever away. Suerte, Nova And Teirce became new CMs in their place. And Dark became an Emperor.

Teirce had fun in CM and got banned from admin... FOREVER.

Dash Rendar... Happened.

Gray made many changes most of which became useless. Most useful was the beginning of Clan Jobs, Regular members being able to help more.

Calibur Stepped down

Suerte become Emperor.

Gray went inactive for family reasons and left the other 2 emperors in charge.

Dark went to go play softball and his sister's games. And Only recently returned. Over a year later.

Swee went to go play softball. And got into college and is very busy, no longer able to be on more than once a month or so.

We all kinda had free reign and let loose.

Exar could no longer pay for our JKA server, so Calibur bought one for us, for a year.

JKA died

Activity died.

Gray Returns and finds that the clan no longer wants to play JKA, Tries to make branches, and fails. No branches take root, and Nova Disappears taking hope and some people for a branch to return again for SWtor recently.

Members Vanished. leaving a skeleton of DLS's former self, Devnull, Calibur, Arashi, Teirce and Gray. being the only regulars

Gray went to play SWGEMU and Vanguard and get Stalked by the Lovely Jade.

All Branches died. Sharp Left, And Things improved from there.

SWTOR opened beta: Many applied

Devnul Updated our forum to be secure.

Gray got into SWTOR Beta

Gray Made SWTOR Guild

Gray Entered Guild into deployment

And now things are going at a faster pace. Exar and #Include Returned to join SWTOR, Bringing us allies. People Joined the SWTOR Guild giving us a larger base to work with. We Stand at the rise of a new game and hopefully many improvements for the whole clan.

Wow! Amazing! No other clan i know of can boast such a long and detailed history, and it makes me proud to be a member :)

Great additions march, i remember that history that zee wrote up a while ago, there were plans to make it more up to date but for some reason it never went ahead, its great to see the history of DLS finally written down fully up to date :)

Great find by the way with that post by zee :) I think this is essential reading for any new member of the clan :)

Hey Grieco. I'm taking the blame on that. But I believe there is several more important people missing too. I'm correcting things right up, although I'm getting it kinda messy.

I remember when you joined, your first times you wore a stromtrooper skin and used duals. Just can't figure out exactly when it was that you were around. Was it by the second golden age? Previous to Spy-June trouble but after AoS was dead, right?

I changed what Vipers said.

Btw, for future reference, please try using the tiltes to help me out where I should change things.

Ok. There it is. Added Grieco in the second age. And changed Calibur's thing. You're right, you weren't banned. Not very welcome anyways. Lol.

Don't be shy, tell me of any changes or additions or anything.

If someone can fill me in I'll add that up.
